This programme is designed in accordance with the syllabus for training Nursing Auxiliaries as recommended by the Nursing Council of Barbados, a body representative of the Ministry of Health of Barbados. The aim of this programme is to provide students with the theoretical, practical, and attitudinal skills needed to function in the capacity of a caregiver in public or private health care.
COURSE CONTENT:
The course will be divided into modules. The following topics will comprise the course content:
- Module 1 – Legal and Ethical Issues.
- Module 2 – Anatomy and Physiology.
- Module 3 –Fundamentals of Nursing.
- Module 4 – Nutrition.
- Module 5 – First Aid and Basic Life Support.
- Module 6 – Common Health Problems

It’s a part-time course for 6 months on evenings, theory online 6pm to 8:30pm, 3 days a week and one full day practicals/clinical on either Saturday or Sunday from 10am to 5pm.
